F.A.Q
How does the Recruitment Process Design service actually work?
We look critically and systematically at how you do your recruitment, understanding that many issues arise at the interface between HR and line management - unrealistic expectations, insufficiently specified requirements, decisions taken at too high a level and inadequately cascaded through the organisation etc. We help you get the process right and ensure clarity between HR and line management. We make sure you have the right methods and competencies embedded to attract, interview, assess, select and bring on board the people you need to develop your business.
Why do we need to do this at all?
Because recruitment is expensive. Getting it wrong - hiring the wrong candidate, failing to secure the person(s) you want, delays and inefficiencies etc - cost a great deal. Past research shows it may cost into six figures! Ensuring you have the right processes and skills not only reduces your exposure to cost but also contributes positively to the profitability and success of your enterprise.
Can't we do all this ourselves?
In theory, yes. But however expert the HR professional, it is often exceedingly difficult for him/her to take a detached view of both the line and staff management aspects of this critical business element. We can interface equally well with main board directors as with HR management and staff to ensure all the key elements of recruitment and selection are encompassed.
What about recruitment in complex multinational and global enterprises?
Trans-national recruitment processes frequently fail - for a variety of reasons. Haphazard overall specification of needs, poor process control and lack of confidence in arm's length decision making are just some of the issues. Technology (remote interviewing, use of webcams etc) can often help, but real efficiency gains spring from establishing centres of excellence, offering carefully co-ordinated and controlled process management. This can be complex and sometimes sensitive in implementation, but can pay very substantial dividends
Many organisations audit their recruitment processes, but this - in our experience - is almost always done piecemeal, without the vital overarching consideration of how all the parts of the organisation contribute to (and sometimes work against) the efficiency of the process. Often it is carried out simply to 'patch things up' rather than overhaul the system radically. Paying attention to this critical - and costly - business activity is new, pioneered by Bradenlaw.
Why Bradenlaw?
Bradenlaw practitioners combine experience of HR operational management with process design capability. One of our principals - David Rogers, a highly experienced HR Director - practised process design with one of the UK's leading BPR consultancies for a number of years. Our team also includes well-respected occupational psychologists who understand the people side of your business. Between us we offer an almost unparalleled breadth of experience gained in total over more than 80 years of practice
How do we operate?
For the most part we work on your premises, with your staff, although some preparatory and analysis work is handled back at base. We have extensive experience of both public and private sectors, especially government departments, banking and finance, manufacturing and the energy sectors.
What does it involve and how long does it take?
This depends on the nature of the enterprise and the complexity of your internal organisation. Experience teaches us that the initial consultation and audit can take anything between five and fifteen days. Optimising or redesigning the process typically requires a significantly shorter time period. Implementation of changes is less concentrated and is usually a series of brief interventions - training, briefing sessions etc - and varies according to the enterprise size and complexity
What does it cost?
Bradenlaw believes in offering clear and specific contractual elements. Depending on the mix of consultants delivering the assignment, we charge between £1500.00 and £2000.00 per consultant day, exclusive of expenses and VAT.
Who are your clients?
Bradenlaw is a new enterprise, but a list of past clients of team members is shown on this website.
